A little bit disappointed

Ok.  The weather god got the message COMPLETELY wrong!  What I was REALLY asking for was just a simple, light cloud cover.  Nothing to fancy, just enough to stop those difficult to work with contrasty shadows.  I did not EVER ask for it to rain cats and dogs!  Which is what it did!  All night, and then for most of the day!!!  What part of 'light cloud' is so difficult to understand???????  It was really very disheartening.....

My pony More Joyous found the task of carrying 57kg on a heavy 10 track (it doesn't get much heavier, there was pools of water, you could see it spraying up under the horses' feet, and apparently the back section of the track was a bog, we did think there was a chance they would call the meeting off) beyond her.  Perhaps she'd trained off, and that 5th start of a preparation for this lightly framed but incredibly game and courageous champion can at times mean going to the well once too often.  But the Randwick rise, with 57kg, on such a track, is a hard feat for any horse.  And in her defence, the results for the day, as with 2010 VRC Derby Day, went to those horses that could swim in the mud.

I head to Scone in the morning.  It was a great result for my friends at Arrowfield, with their Kingpin Redoute's Choice siring the winner of the AJC Oaks in Absolutely.  It was therefore a good result for me too.  See you tomorrow afternoon, my lovely boys..
